Where to submit your poetry - Cordite
In terms of online venues that are freely available to the reading public and that pay poets (Australians and Australian Residents) Cordite Poetry Review is the heavy hitter with funding from both State and Federal Government Bodies (and even from some bodies across the Tasman).
Understandably the quality is high and I'd suggest that its possibly not the first port of call for the newly minted poet.
Still there's a wealth of learning to be had here for free. I know you can find a lot of great poetry on the net but to find the latest, top quality stuff you will usually have to buy a poet's collection or an anthology (please do this anyway if you can).
Keep an eye out for changes on the submission page as they only open submissions at certain times for certain publications.
Subscribe to their blog and you'll get the benefit of reading articulate reviews of new collections, the arrival of their latest online publication and when submission windows are opening and closing.
